Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated October 30, 2026

Who we are

This policy explains how Bonvillain Design Studio ("the studio", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you visit www.bonvillain.design, shop in our store at bonvillain.design, join our mailing list or email us.

Sites we link to, such as Instagram, Altitude Guitar or PayPal, have their own privacy policies, and those policies govern what happens on their pages.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to answer you, ship your order and run the site:

  • Order details: your name, billing and shipping address, email, phone number and what you bought. We need these to process, ship and support your order.
  • Payment details: card, PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay payments are handled by PayPal. Your card number goes straight to PayPal and never reaches us; we see only the outcome of the payment and the last digits PayPal reports.
  • Account details, if you choose to create a store account: your login email and order history.
  • Messages: whatever you write to us by email, and your email address so we can reply.
  • Mailing list: your email address, if you sign up to hear about new pieces first.
  • Technical data: pages visited, browser type, device, approximate location from your IP address, and the referring site. We use this in aggregate to keep the site working and to understand what people look at.

How we use it

  • To process, ship and support your orders, including order confirmations and shipping updates.
  • To answer your questions and press enquiries.
  • To send our mailing list, only if you asked to receive it. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the store secure.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with the services that help us run the studio, and only what each one needs:

  • PayPal, to take payments (including cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Pay Later).
  • Our print and fulfilment partners, who make and ship merchandise orders. They receive your name, shipping address and what you ordered.
  • Shipping carriers, to deliver your order.
  • Our hosting providers (Vercel for this site, DreamHost for the store) and our email provider, which store data on our behalf.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Cookies and similar storage

The store uses cookies to keep your cart and checkout working and to keep you signed in. This site remembers your bag in your own browser. We use privacy-friendly visit statistics to see which pages are read. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though the cart and checkout need them to work.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to seven years. We keep emails as long as they are useful to answer you. Mailing list addresses stay until you unsubscribe. Statistics are kept in aggregate.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop using it for the mailing list. Email info@bonvillain.design and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example Colorado, California or the EU and UK), the law may give you further rights, and we will honour them. We will not treat you differently for using them. Some records, such as completed orders, we must keep for legal reasons even after a deletion request.

Security

Every page and the checkout are served over encrypted connections, card payments are handled by PayPal, and access to order data is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so if you think something is wrong, please tell us right away.

Children

This site and store are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the studio and the store change. The date below shows when it last changed, and the current version always lives on this page.
