The piece
Ibanez JS1000 with a customized Hoshino 90th JS neck (ebony board). Front was painted by Bonvillain and back by Joe in the summer of 2022. Piece is being auctioned for a charity donation to Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco.
The longest-running collaboration in the shop, and the one where the other party picks up a brush. These are not guitars finished for Satriani – they are guitars he and David paint together, then auction.
The 2022 JS1000 had its front painted by Bonvillain and its back by Joe. The 2024 JS2400 "Alien Galaxy" added striping and leafing by Beth Kearney and pickups donated by DiMarzio. Proceeds have gone to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, Guitars4Vets and Pasadena Humane across successive years.
